RTNDF Announces Recipients Of 2014 First Amendment Awards

Four individuals and one news organization have been named by the RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS FOUNDATION (RTDNF) as the recipients of its 2014 First Amendment Awards. The awards will be presented on MARCH 12th at a ceremony in WASHINGTON.
GANNETT Broadcasting Division Pres. DAVID LOUGEE will receive the First Amendment Leadership Award; NBC NIGHTLY NEWS weekend anchor and TODAY SHOW weekend co-anchor LESTER HOLT will be honored with the LEONARD ZEIDENBERG First Amendment Award; ABC NEWS VP and WASHINGTON Bureau Chief ROBIN SPROUL will get the First Amendment Service Award; the ASSOCIATED PRESS will receive the First Amendment Award; and a RTDNF Lifetime Achievement Award will go to CBS NEWS WHITE HOUSE Correspondent BILL PLANTE.
RTNDF Chairman VINCENT DUFFY said, “This year's winners embody the ideals of the First Amendment and of the Foundation. We are proud to recognize their efforts and applaud them for their service."
RTNDF Exec. Dir. MIKE CAVENDER added, "We are delighted to announce an outstanding group of honorees. The recipients and their organizations consistently demonstrate support for the First Amendment and freedom of the press.”
