Kevin Matthews Tapped For Imaging Duties At WGN.FM

CHICAGO and GRAND RAPIDS radio veteran KEVIN MATTHEWS has been added as imaging voice at TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO's WGN.FM (also known as "THE G") online streaming service, reports ROBERTFEDER.COM.

MATTHEWS, whose show and characters aired for many years on WLUP (THE LOOP) and WMVP-A and later at WLS-F and WCKG, left CHICAGO radio in 2005 and become morning host at CUMULUS Classic Rock WLAV/GRAND RAPIDS; he left WLAV in 2011 and now produces a twice-weekly podcast for STEVE DAHL's podcast network from his home in GRAND RAPIDS, where he will remain based.

WGN VP/ Creative Content TODD MANLEY told FEDER, “We really want to give KEVIN a fun platform for all of his characters -- hopefully to do things he’s never been able to do before.  And he’d done some pretty cool, crazy stuff.”

In addition, FEDER reports that the broadcast side of WGN, on AM, will welcome another CHICAGO radio staple back, at least for a week, as the STEVE AND JOHNNIE show -- married couple STEVE KING and JOHNNIE PUTMAN -- will fill in for STEVE COCHRAN in mornings for CHRISTMAS week (except for CHRISTMAS morning, on which the station will air special programming.
