89.9 Drops Format

After 17 years, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY Contemporary Christian WAYG (89.9)/GRAND RAPIDS is off the air.

As first reported in OCTOBER (NET NEWS, 10/7), this move is due to budgetary constraints and the blurred line between AC and Top 40 musical formats.  After much prayer and counsel, the board of directors decided to shelve the long-time Christian Top 40 format and combine forces with its Christian AC sister, WCSG/GRAND RAPIDS.  

No jobs are affected, as the WAYG staff has been reallocated to serve aboard WCSG.
