After 33 years at CBS RADIO News-Talk WCCO-A/MINNEAPOLIS Managing Editor and morning news anchor STEVE MURPHY has announced his retirement, effective at the end of the year.  MURPHY told CBS MINNESOTA that his recent mugging while on his way to work (NET NEWS 11/13) was not the reason for his decision, saying, "It’s not getting mugged at 2:30 in the morning, it’s coming to work at 2:30 in the morning,”

SVP/Market Manager MICK ANSELMO said that MURPHY will be "sorely missed” and "is a wonderful example of a professional radio journalist with a great sense of news, a confident, soothing but direct delivery and an uncompromising work ethic that will be difficult to duplicate.”
