Internet customizable news station HEARHERE RADIO (H2) has renamed itself RIVET NEWS RADIO, reports CHICAGOLAND RADIO AND MEDIA. The change was made, a spokesperson told the website, because the original name did not beta test well. The company has launched its new mobile app on iTUNES, with an ANDROID version on the way.
CHICAGO radio news veteran CHARLIE MEYERSON is serving as Head of News at the operation (NET NEWS 11/20), and several staffers have been hired, including MEYERSON's fellow MERLIN News WIQI/WWWN (FM NEWS 101.1)/CHICAGO alumni JOHN GREGORY, GENEEN HARSTON, CHRIS MEZYK, ROB LAFRENTZ, and JENNIFER O'NEIL, architecture critic LEE BEY, WGN-A anchor/producers BRANDON CAMPBELL and BOB KESSLER, former WFYR ND RON DAVIS, news and traffic reporter AMANDA GASS, weiter JULIA GRAY, WBEZ reporter/producer KATIE KATHER, producer/voiceover talent MARGARET LARKIN, newsman CHRISTOPHER MICHAWL, sportscaster ALISON MORAN, online editor and manager PAUL MUTH, former COMCAST SPORTSNET CHICAGO Sr. ND CHARLIE SCHUMACHER, and longtime CHICAGO market personality JAMES VAN OSDOL.
