ALL ACCESS extends sympathies to family and friends of singer RAY PRICE, who passed away TODAY (12/16) at his home in MOUNT PLEASANT, TX following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 87. The news comes a day after his passing was prematurely announced by several media outlets.
PRICE became a star during the 1950’s and reached #1 for the first time with “Crazy Arms” in 1956. His signature song came years later however, with “For The Good Times.” The KRIS KRISTOFFERSON-penned tune became PRICE’s fifth career #1 and helped PRICE win ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC “Album” and “Song of the Year” honors in 1970, in addition to the 1971 GRAMMY for “Best Male Country Vocal Performance.”
