You and your stations are invited to take part in the largest survey of radio listeners and their listening, social/digital habits ever! Once again this year JACOBS MEDIA and ALL ACCESS are welcoming radio stations of all formats to participate in TECHSURVEY10.
You can register for TECHSURVEY10 until JANUARY 10th, and the survey window is JANUARY 14-28, 2014.
The results of this year's survey will be presented by JACOBS MEDIA President FRED JACOBS in a compelling hour of must-see, must-learn information, starting at 12noon, THURSDAY, APRIL 3rd at the 4th Annual WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT in HOLLYWOOD -- APRIL 2nd-4th, 2014.
This is the 10th annual survey in this successful series -– a national web-based research study devoted to media and technology utilizing radio station databases.
In TECHSURVEY9, 264 radio stations across North America participated, generating 78,000+ interviews and providing data for 12 different radio formats from Top 40 to Country to News/Talk to Classic Rock. The goal for TS10 is to reach the 300 station milestone with even more format and audience diversity.
Research topics will track:
* Traditional media usage -- radio, TV
* Current, new and emerging social media sites -- FACEBOOK, TWITTER, PINTEREST, SNAPCHAT, and more
* Devices and gadgets -- the digital dash, smartphones, tablets, and othersAdditionally, the survey will delve into station related activities:
* Social media usage
* In-car listening and the impact of the "connected car"
* The growth of streaming -- Pandora, iTUNES RADIO, SPOTIFY, SLACKER, CC's iHEART, Cumulus' RDIO, CBS' RADIO.COM
* On-demand programmingAdditionally, TS10 will explore "second screen" media use, headset usage, as well as interest in wearable devices, such as GOOGLE GLASS and iWATCH type innovations. TS10 will also continue to explore the growth of mobile and how listeners are using apps.
And for the first time, TS10 will include format-specific questions to help programmers better learn about some of the key issues facing Sports Radio, Hot AC, Country, and others. JACOBS MEDIA is inviting stakeholder programmers to submit questions for possible inclusion, thus providing even more actionable information from TS10. What are the big questions you have for your format specifically? Feel free to send your submissions to fredjacobs@jacobsmedia.com.
The goal of these studies is to provide radio with a media usage hierarchy to help stations better prioritize where they commit their money, staff, and resources. Our Media Usage Pyramids for local stations, the 12 formats, and the total sample (seen below from TECHSURVEY9) are hanging up in hundreds of cubicles, offices, and air studios throughout the U.S. and Canada. This is information that every programmer and manager needs to develop smart strategies that can capitalize on the opportunities presented by new media and technology.
Here is how your stations, clusters, and companies can participate in TS10:
TS10 will be fielded in early JANUARY 2013. Station commitments for the survey FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20. JACOBS MEDIA handles all details of the study, and provides email copy and all technical aspects of participation.
Stations have two options for participating in the survey:
A small participation fee for local station data. We will survey your database (up to 600 completed interviews). You'll receive your local market data, the total survey data, your format data, and your station's media usage pyramid. You will also be able to participate in a free participants-only webinar that reviews the key findings this spring. Anyone from your station is eligible to attend. The same rates for TS10 as last year's:
Top 20 markets: $500
Markets 21-50: $400
Markets 51+: $300No participation fee. If you elect to not pay the fee, we still very much want you to participate in the study. While you will not receive local data or a media usage pyramid for your station, you will be provided with an infographic that summarizes the survey's key national findings, as well as participation in the webinar.
Please use the link below to sign-up and fill it out for each radio station you would like to have participate. If you have a large number of stations (more than 5) you would like to register, please contact LISA RIKER directly via email or call her at (248) 353-9030 for discount information.
