RADIO ONE/DETROIT Urban AC WDMK (KISS 105.9), Urban WGPR (HOT 107.5), and Gospel WPZR (PRAISE 102.7) will broadcast live TOMORROW (10/29) from the lobby of the FISHER BUILDING at 3011 WEST GRAND in the city.
MASON & COCO IN THE MORNING, PM drive DR. DARRIUS and middayer RADIO MYLES will broadcast at various times while combined staffs will collect needed items to help the homeless and less fortunate in METRO DETROIT area shelters.
The cast of the production 'MOTOWN THE MUSICAL' will be on hand with mini-performances throughout the day. Everything collected will go to COALITION ON TEMPORARY SHELTER (COTS), THE NOAH PROJECT 'SOCK IT TO ME' campaign, and the DETROIT RED CARPET BACKYARD BBQ FOR THE HOMELESS.
VP/GM KATHY STINEHOUR said, "With the cold temperatures, staff noticed an increase of area homeless trying to stay warm. It's cold and it looks like relief is far away, especially for those with nowhere to live."
Items needed include warm socks, warm winter blankets, sleeping bags, toothpaste, soap, toothbrushes, mouthwash, Q-tips, disposable razors, razorblades, sanitary napkins, and diapers. For more information e-mail WENDY CYRUS-HERNDON at wcherndon@radio-one.com.
