NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO Dir./Vertical Initiatives MATT THOMPSON is exiting to join THEATLANTIC.COM as Deputy Editor, effective in the new year.
THOMPSON, the creator of the CODE SWITCH blog at NPR and a former Deputy Web Editor at the MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE and blog creator at the FRESNO BEE, will report to THEATLANTIC.COM Editor J.J, GOULD; he joins other former NPR staffers, including VP MARGARET LOW SMITH, Sr. Dir./Communications ANNA BROSS, and science writer NICHOLAS ST. He’s creative about new media and their emerging potential, he’s serious about journalism as a public good, and he’s super-smart about the requirements of leadership in a digital organization. He’s also just a natural fit for THE ATLANTIC personally. Working with him is going to be a lot of fun.”
