PARADIS BROADCASTING Classic Rock KXRA (KX92)/ALEXANDRIA, MN's MARK ANTHONY was so moved by that picture of an AFRICAN-AMERICAN child hugging a white police officer with tears streaming down his face, that he has proposed a NATIONAL DAY OF HEALING across the U.S. on DECEMBER 22nd at 1p (CST).
“It doesn't seem like racial relations have improved in this country and I am concerned about it,” said ANTHONY in the wake of the unrest in FERGUSON, MO. 'We are all AMERICANS and should be on the same page and I am trying to find a way to make that happen.
“We still have a long way to go in this country to have the dream of DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.. where we all get along. There is still tension and mistrust in this country and I want to help in my small way.”
The widely seen photo prompted ANTHONY to write a song called “Just Finally Get Along.” The song deals with admitting mistakes in the past, but also that there is a need to let go of the past to finally move on.
“If I can be a conduit for healing and bringing all Americans together through a song that would be fantastic,” said ANTHONY “My great-great grandfather died fighting for the Union during the CIVIL WAR to help free the slaves and I wanted to incorporate his memory and legacy into the song.”
A NATIONAL DAY OF HEALING is planned for DECEMBER 22nd, just before CHRISTMAS, as a time for everyone of all races to join together for peace and harmony. If you would like to join the movement go to the events page set-up on FACEBOOK.
ANTHONY is a TV and radio personality who has worked as the chief meteorologist at KSAX-TV ALEXANDRA, MN, KDSM/DES MOINES, and KGAN/KFXA in CEDAR RAPIDS.
