Rochester On-Air Personality Joe Deane Dies

JOE "DEANE" DiNICOLA, a renowned '60s Top 40 on-air personality in ROCHESTER, NY., at ratings giant WBBF, passed away in FLORIDA after a bout of poor health at age 74.
JOE worked at WBBF from 1965 until the end of the decade, when he left his air shift to do sales at the station, the highest-rated Top 40 in the country, with shares in the 40s and 50s.
He also had a stint at WHEC in ROCHESTER, before moving to PITTSBURGH, then returning to WBBF (950AM), where he did the mid-day show.
Later in his career, DEANE worked at WSAY (AM 1370)/ ROCHESTER for a time in the '70s after the station was acquired by the late radio executive LOU DICKEY, SR from GORDON BROWN. He also did some weekend work at WKLX-F when it was an oldies statation.
DEANE retired to CALABASH, NC, not far from MYRTLE BEACH, SC for many years and recently moved with his wife GINNY to FLORIDA to be near his daughter and her husband because of failing health.
