Morning show host RON SHANK has resigned from AMERICAN FAMILY RADIO Contemporary Christian AFR NETWORK/TUPELO.
RON has accepted a GM slot at HARDIN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL Instructional WQTR (Tiger Radio 106.1)/SAVANNAH TN.
He explained on his FACEBOOK page, "Big News. After over 5 years of sharing mornings with all of you, I wanted to let you know that today I gave my 2-week notice at AMERICAN FAMILY RADIO. I have been offered and accepted the position of Broadcasting Instructor at HARDIN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL.
It's always a little sad when you enter a new chapter of life and leave listeners and co-workers who really have become family to me. Thankfully, we still have FACEBOOK, right? Seriously, I will miss these days with all of you. We laughed with and at each other; we've cried and mourned with each other; and we've pranked and mocked each other (relentlessly at times). I can still taste salt in my coffee, JJ. I still hear mentions of the day I accidently wore my polo shirt inside out (most of the day). And I am still waiting on my thank you card from the pork producers association from my APRIL FOOL's day announcement about a new bacon tax.
But as sad as it is, I am also thrilled. It's always been a dream of mine to mentor young people and I am passionate about teaching the "craft of radio." Needless to say, this also cuts my morning commute time from 90 minutes to seven (if traffic is bad) and will give me life with my family back in a new way! I can't wait. They have been very kind to share me with you for five years. But while that chapter is ending, I want all of you to know, it will never be forgotten and I will miss you all, very much!
May GOD bless you all and thank you for the prayers as my family enters this new chapter in life!
