The NEW YORK MARKET RADIO ASSOCIATION (NYMRAD) has issued its first-ever Quarterly State of the Market Report, beginning with Q2 2015. The comprehensive analysis of the NEW YORK marketplace is designed to help advertisers understand Radio’s impact on consumers and its prominent role in the local advertising landscape.
The extensive Report assesses the area economy, provides up-to-date consumer research and examines commuter traffic patterns, listenership trends, business drivers, and more. In addition, the Report provides intelligence on advertising categories and growth sectors from MILLER KAPLAN ARASE and other notable sources.
“As the Report reveals, NEW YORK’s economy is booming and radio’s reach is stronger than ever," NYMRAD Exec. Dir. DEBORAH BEAGAN said: We are delighted to produce this in-depth Report with insights to help advertisers maximize the benefits of radio. The N.Y. market continues to deliver new and innovative results for advertisers by leveraging radio’s multi-platform extensions such as internet, mobile and social media.”
Some of the findings include:
-- Nearly 200 brands advertised on NEW YORK radio who spent $100,000 apiece.
-- The restaurant sector hit almost $13 million in ad sales.
-- Health care ad spending increased by 17%.
-- 90% of NEW YORKERS listen to the radio at least once a week for an average of 9 hours, 45 minutes.
-- Since 2008, the time spent listening to on-line radio has doubled, with users tuning in for 12 hours and 53 minutes weekly.
