ANDRES RODRIGUEZ TORRES, a college classmate and friend, has been convicted of murdering GROOVESHARK exec EDDY VASQUEZ after the two attended a wedding together in ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA. TORRES, who faces life in prison whenhe's sentencd, fatally shot VASQUEZ twice in the chest during an altercation that started at a bar and ended in front of a nearby PUBLIX SUPERMARKET in 2013.
VASQUEZ was 27 when he died from resulting complications, and now TORRES has been convicted of the murder and faces formal sentencing next month.
The two attended the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA together.
GROOVESHARK's history is one with plenty of tragedy. The streaming service was shut down on APRIL 30th by the major labels for massive copyright infringement, and just months later, its co-founder JOSH GREENBERG was found dead in his home. Police indicated no foul play or evidence of suicide, while autopsy results are forthcoming.
