EMMIS News-Talk KLBJ-A-K259AJ/AUSTIN is overhauling its schedule on SEPTEMBER 14th in the wake of the JULY retirement of morning co-host Sgt. SAM COX.
The new lineup moves 9-11a and 2-3p (CT) hosts TODD JEFFRIES and DON PRYOR to mornings 6-9a to fill the slot formerly held by "AUSTIN'S MORNING NEWS WITH MARK AND ED." MARK -- PD MARK CAESAR -- moves to host 9-11a with former KLBJ-F personality CHARLIE HODGE while also contributing news reports for TODD AND DON; CAESAR's morning partner ED CLEMENTS moves to afternoons 3-7p as JEFF WARD's co-host to expand on the hour they already co-host 6-7p.
Speaking of Rock KLBJ-F, that station's longtime morning star DALE DUDLEY will add a new talk show for 2-3p on KLBJ-A while continuing to host mornings on KLBJ-F with BOB FONSECA and MATT BEARDEN.
And the station is adding RADIO AMERICA's DANA LOESCH for 7-9p, replacing the two hours of PREMIERE's COAST TO COAST AM that presently airs in that slot. PREMIERE's RUSH LIMBAUGH remains in the 11a-2p slot, GROUND ZERO WITH CLYDE LEWIS is still in the 9p-midnight time period, and PREMIERE's COAST TO COAST AM and WESTWOOD ONE's AMERICA IN THE MORNING continue overnight.
VP/Programming & Operations CHASE RUPE said, "AUSTIN's diverse and rapidly growing population deserves an outlet for meaningful, insightful conversation, and we believe this line-up serves that interest with the most compelling and entertaining hosts in AUSTIN and beyond."
VP/Market Manager SCOTT T. GILMORE added, "NEWSRADIO KLBJ is available on the region’s biggest radio signal, 590 AM and also in AUSTIN on 99.7 FM. We are welcoming another generation of information-hungry listeners to AUSTIN’s most venerable and provocative radio brand!”
