SCRIPPS Country KTTS and News-Talk KSGF-A-F/SPRINGFIELD, MO have apologized for the stations' SUNDAY morning "CRACKER BARREL" public affairs show hosts' suggestion that the WDBJ-TV/ROANOKE on-air murder was a "hoax" designed to promote stronger gun restrictions.
The SPRINGFIELD NEWS-LEADER reports that host JOE RIOS and phone screener RICK MASTERS discussed the shooting on their AUGUST 30th show and have been suspended from the station; GM REX HANSEN apologized on the air for the comments, saying, "Last SUNDAY on CRACKER BARREL two of our employees not only displayed poor judgment when talking about the recent murder of two of our colleagues from television station WDBJ in VIRGINIA but went in a direction that was not factual, disrespectful and downright wrong. We apologize for their comments. They do not reflect the values we hold high here at the E.W. SCRIPPS COMPANY. Thank you.”
