ENTRAVISION CENTRAL VALLEY, STOCKTON AND MODESTO SVP Integrated Marketing Solutions LISA VELA commented: “We’re delighted to host this magnificent event recognizing one of the U.S.’s foremost HISPANIC activists. ENTRAVISION is thrilled to bring this inspirational celebration to the local community and to our greater audience via our radio and social media platforms.”
Added HUERTA: “My organizing work for social justice began in STOCKTON. This is why I wanted to celebrate my 85th year of life and my 70th year of social justice work, which began as a young GIRL SCOUT right here."
HUERTA is a civil rights activist who helped found the AGRICULTURAL WORKERS ASSOCIATION and launch the NATIONAL FARM WORKERS ASSOCITION, where she helped set up voter registration drives, press local governments for barrio improvements, and hold economic power through grassroots campaigning.
