Grand Ole Opry Celebrates 90th Birthday Weekend

The GRAND OLE OPRY celebrated its 90th birthday over the WEEKEND with four OPRY shows, free OPRY PLAZA BIRTHDAY PARTIES, an OPRY 90th birthday cake, and sold-out audiences. FRIDAY's (10/2) OPRY included a surprise on-stage collaboration between THE OAK RIDGE BOYS and LITTLE BIG TOWN, after which both groups were presented with OPRY member 90th anniversary gifts by OPRY VP/GM PETE FISHER, who remarked, "Moments like these connecting generations of great Country artists are what the GRAND OLE OPRY is all about."
SATURDAY (10/3) saw a visit from ABC-TV's "Good Morning AMERICA" host ROBIN ROBERTS, who introduced GRAND OLE OPRY member CARRIE UNDERWOOD. THE OAK RIDGE BOYS, LARRY GATLIN AND THE GATLIN BROTHERS, TRACE ADKINS, UNDERWOOD, and more celebrated the evening with two shows. Throughout the weekend, the OPRY PLAZA hosted fans for free performances and an OPRY salute to the stars of ABC's "NASHVILLE" (NET NEWS 9/29). The OPRY's 90th anniversary celebration will continue TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6th with appearances by ALAN JACKSON, MIRANDA LAMBERT, MARTY STUART, and many others.
