Wins Double Honors

RADIO ONE recently celebrated a double win for Inspiration WPRS (PRAISE 104.1)/WASHINGTON, D.C.

All in one day at this years NAB RADIO SHOW in ATLANTA, the Inspiration station was awarded the AD COUNCIL’s highest award, the “CRYSTAL BELL” for outstanding community service, followed by winning the coveted "MARCONI AWARD" for Religious Station of the Year.

Regional SVP/GM JEFF WILSON said, “This was truly one of the greatest moments in the history of our cluster and our company.

The AD COUNCIL is a national non-profit and the largest producer of U.S. public service advertising (PSA) campaigns.  The award is the Ad Council's highest media honor and is presented each year to a radio station that demonstrates leadership and provides exceptional broadcast support for Ad Council campaigns.

AD Council Pres./CEO LISA SHERMAN said, “Our radio media partners are integral to the success of our programs in creating positive social change.  WPRS-FM and RADIO ONE have gone above and beyond to help make a significant impact and improve the safety and well-being of Americans.  We are proud to recognize them as outstanding partners.”

The “MARCONI AWARD” is the ROLLS ROYCE in radio recognition.  It was established in 1989 and named after inventor and NOBEL PRIZE winner GUGLIELMO MARCONI.

These awards were given during the celebration month of RADIO ONE’s 35th Anniversary.
