The INDIANAPOLIS BUSINESS JOURNAL reports that the previously announced move (NET NEWS 8/7) by EMMIS to add another Sports station to the INDIANAPOLIS FM dial with the acquisition of W228CX/INDIANAPOLIS on 93.5 FM, licensed to KASPAR BROADCASTING CO. and moving in from FRANKFORT, IN, to rebroadcast the full local lineup of Sports WFNI-A (1070 THE FAN) is imminent, awaiting only FCC approval.
WFNI has been partially simulcast on W298BB/INDIANAPOLIS on 107.1 (also purchased from KASPAR) with some local shows replaced by ESPN RADIO programming; with the addition of the new translator, the 107.1 signal will offer the national ESPN RADIO feed with the exception of MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING, which will remain with 1070 AM and the new 93.5 FM.
The 107.1 signal will air ERIK KUSELIAS' NBC SPORTS RADIO show in place of MIKE AND MIKE. The 107.1 FM station, presently branded as THE FAN along with the AM signal, will be rebranded as "107.5 ESPN: INDY'S SPORTSCENTER," while 93.5 FM will pick up THE FAN branding.
