The AMSTERDAM DANCE EVENT (ADE) celebrated its 20th anniversary OCTOBER 13th-16th in grand style. Yet the action wasn't limited to the event itself as ALL ACCESS Dance Editors CARY VANCE and JOHN PARKER also found time to visit radio and labels.
On TUESDAY morning (10/13), VANCE and PARKER visited Dutch radio, sat in promo meetings, where promo reps went through their record boxes (yes, their music was housed in actual boxes) and talked to the programmers. Afterwards, they checked out offices of SPINNIN’ RECORDS, where they met with EELKO VAN KOOTEN, ROGER DE GRAAF and CEES VAN DER ZWAN, as well as some of their artists and staff, then headed to the offices of PROTOCOL, where they met the staff, their artists and got to hear a lot of new music as well as see the video for “Lighthouse” by NICKY ROMERO -- the latter who has his own branded Tequila.
WEDNESDAY (10/14) started off with a breakfast with DJ RON, MANNY ESPARZA & GREGORY SCHWEITZER from NEXUS RADIO, followed by a number of informative ADE panels. They then went to headquarters of the MEDIA NANNY where VANCE interviewed: ARTY, MOTI, DVBBS, SAM FELDT, THOMAS GOLD, SUNNERY JAMES & WATERMAT, as well as chatted with MARTIN GARRIX.
Later in the afternoon it was more panels and meetings with the likes of GON CARPEL from ROAR, who talked about the latest MORGAN PAGE single featuring BRITT DALEY “Running Wild." Next on the agenda for the ALL ACCESS crew was a trip to KEIZER CULINAIR COOKING SCHOOL for the ADE Cookoff, with DJ chefs: KOLSCH, JOSEPH CAPRIATI, CARL COX, REBEKAH & SHINEDOE as well as judges DAVE CLARKE, SETH TROXLER and PAUL OAKENFOLD.
ALL ACCESS then headed to the evening parties for FLASHOVER, the SPINNIN’ SESSIONS & the PROTOCOL party. Attending the SPINNIN’ SESSIONS were GERONIMO & ANDRES NIETO from SIRIUSXM BPM & Electric Area, who were getting ready to head out to set up the live broadcast they were doing from the PROTOCOL party. Later, they found themselves at an Italian restaurant that served a UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP dinner, which attracted the likes of BRETT ALPEROWITZ (CASABLANCA), MATT D’ARDUINI (ISLAND), EDDIE O’LOUGHLIN (NEXT PLATEAU) & LUIS ESTRADA (AFTERCLUV/UNIVERSAL MUSIC LATIN) and AUSTIN KRAMER from SPOTIFY.
THURSDAY (10/15) began with ALL ACCESS interviews with FENIX, DUBVISION, SANDER KLEINENBERG, PEP & RASH, BLASTERJAXX -- a brief respite for a few more ADE panels -- and a NICKY ROMERO interview. A bevy of meetings followed with JOERI LODDERS from FLASHOVER, ARNY BINK from BLACK HOLE, GARETH JONES & ADAM SELLERS and the AJUNABEATS camp. VANCE and PARKER also touched base with CRYSTAL WATERS & VASSY, PRIMARY WAVE’s HOSH GURELI, ADE Dir. RICHARD ZIJLMA and BIP Records' JOHN VAN NORTEN, then checked out the ULTRA MUSIC gathering, which was hosted by PATRICK MOXEY, DAVID WAXMAN and VALENTINA VISTOLI. The night concluded after meetings with STEPHANIE KARTEN from ROBBINS, and cocktails with PAUL OAKENFOLD and AMBA SHEPHERD, RICARDO VINAS & CARLOS ALCALA from THRIVE, and partied held by the WARNER MUSIC GROUP party and the hysteria records.
FRIDAY (10/16) began with meetings with 3RD BRAIN MANAGEMENT's JAKE UDELL; ELOISE RIGBY from MINISTRY OF SOUND, who has one of the hottest records in the world “Easy Love” by SIGALA; DEE SONARAM who talked up the new EDWARD MAYA single, as well as what’s going on with SHAGGY and a new Tropical House mix of his latest single; and SAK NOEL. They also caught up with JOHN DE SOHN and RADIKAL RECORDS' JURGEN KORDULETSCH, as well as an interview with FLORIAN PICASSO, the great grandson of PICASSO. Next up was the RED LIGHT MANAGEMENT party, with featured RICHARD BISHOP, BRANDON GINSBERG, LUKE ALLEN and MARKUS SCHULZ. Following the RED LIGHT party it was dinner with JAMIE RAEBURN from CENTRAL STATION/SWEAT IT OUT, as well as a number of other Australian labels, and a trip to the HEINEKEN MUSIC HALL to see AXWELL & INGROSSO.
