ELTON JOHN will release his 33rd studio album, "Wonderful Crazy Night," FEBRUARY 5th, 2016, on DAVID MASSEY's ISLAND RECORDS. The album will feature the lead single, “Looking Up,” which will be available TOMORROW, OCTOBER 23nd. The release was co-produced by ELTON and T BONE BURNETT and recorded at THE VILLAGE in LOS ANGELES.
"Wonderful Crazy Night" is available for preorder on iTUNES TOMORROW.
"Looking Up" conjures up some of ELTON's most beloved hits with its rock guitar riffs and "killer" piano motif.ELTON and T BONE oversaw 2013’s acclaimed "The Diving Board," a Top Five success in both the U.K. and U.S., and the historic 2010 alliance with JOHN’s early inspiration LEON RUSSELL, "The Union."
There are several collaborations on "Wonderful Crazy Night" that connect back to the formative days of the superstar's towering career. The album marks the continuation of ELTON’s historic songwriting partnership with BERNIE TAUPIN that now dates back 48 years. Drummer NIGEL OLSSON, with whom he’s been working since his late '60s breakthrough, and guitarist DAVEY JOHNSTONE (who first played with him in 1971 and became a full band member the following year) are both on board, for the first time since 2006's "The Captain & the Kid." Five tracks feature appearances by another time-honored associate, percussionist RAY COOPER, joined by bassist MATT BISSONETTE, keyboard player KIM BULLARD and percussionist JOHN MAHON.
The album also signifies ELTON’s return to ISLAND RECORDS, where he had released 2006’s "The Captain & The Kid" and 1995’s "Made In England."
