"Hello," again naturally.
ADELE's comeback smash scored the Most Added song ever in one week as recorded by MEDIABASE's Add Board. The single, which debuted worldwide last FRIDAY (OCTOBER 23rd), was added by 347 MEDIABASE PUBLISHED reporters across the U.S. and CANADA.
The U.S. Top 40 format led the way with 132 adds, followed by Hot AC at 84, AC with 36, Triple A with 23, and Rhythmic with 17. The U.S. formats in total contributed 296 adds, while MEDIABASE CANADIAN reporters contributed 51 more.
MEDIABASE and MEDIA MONITORS CEO PHILIPPE GENERALI commented, "As the 2015 MEDIABASE chart year is set to conclude on NOVEMBER 15th, we acknowledge a brand-new milestone set by the long-awaited "Hello" by ADELE. The accounting is complete and ADELE has broken the record for most number of adds in a single week across the entire published chart platform at 347. It's a momentous event for ADELE, COLUMBIA RECORDS and MEDIABASE -- and we extend heartfelt congratulations to all for this stellar accomplishment."
The new single isn’t merely racking up station adds and video views at a record pace (NET NEWS 11/2), it’s also generating passionate responses from radio listeners faster than any new song in recent memory. More than a half dozen radio station clients of COLEMAN INSIGHTS’ INTEGR8 new music research service tested “Hello” during the song’s first week; it debuted as the #1 highest-rated song for every station.
“Since launching Integr8 new music research three years ago, we’ve never seen a song become #1 so fast and so consistently from market to market as we have with ADELE’s new single,” said COLEMAN INSIGHTS New Music Research Manager MATT BAILEY. “While a song that generates buzz can get a lot of video views overnight, it’s highly unusual that a song can also generate the kind of passion in research as ‘Hello’ has stirred among our Top 40 and Hot AC clients’ audiences. It will be interesting to see how well the song sustains this level of listener engagement in the weeks and months ahead.”
