WRVE's 'Combat Cancer Dodgeball Tournament'

iHEARTMEDIA Hot AC WRVE (99.5 THE RIVER)/ALBANY, NY raised approximately $5,000 for the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY as part of BREAST CANCER AWARENESS month.

99.5 THE RIVER personalities broadcast live from several local locations with their "PINK CAMOUFLAGED RIVER COMBAT CANCER VAN" and encouraged listeners to donate in tribute to someone special in their life, and to raise the community’s awareness of breast cancer treatment, prevention and resources.

THE RIVER also hosted an online auction featuring prizes such as autographed guitars signed by TAYLOR SWIFT, IMAGINE DRAGONS, ONEREPUBLIC, ROB THOMAS, and MAROON 5 along with other items from local sponsors.  

99.5 THE RIVER also held their first-ever "COMBAT CANCER DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT" bringing together listeners, local businesses and the station staff with over nine teams participating. Proceeds from the event benefited the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY with TEAM DANTE winning the first-place trophy.

According to PD RANDY MCCARTEN, "99.5 THE RIVER has had a busy month filled with local appearances, fun events and remote broadcasts, and we loved every minute. Each person we had the pleasure to meet during our COMBAT CANCER initiative has been affected by breast cancer in some way and so willing to support the cause to find a cure. All of it has been very inspiring to our family at 99.5 THE RIVER."
