First Ventures Puts FM Translators Up For Auction

FIRST VENTURES CAPITAL PARTNERS, which has been selling off several of its FM translators as of late, has placed the rest of its translators up for auction.
The company has established FMtranslatorauction.com to auction off over 25 translators, with bids starting on WEDNESDAY (12/2) at 9a (CT) and ending DECEMBER 9th. The site thanks the FCC for its AM revitalization rules that allow AM stations to buy and move translators within 250 miles of their AM facilities for simulcast purposes.

Michigan FM Sale Closes
GREG and MARCIA JABLONSKI's LIVINGSTON RADIO CO. has closed on the sale of Classic Hits WHMI/HOWELL, MI to ROD KROL's KROL COMMUNICATIONS for $3.5 million. JASON JAMES of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS served as exclusive broker for the deal.
WBEZ Owner Kicking Tires At Kankakee Noncomm
CHICAGO PUBLIC MEDIA is doing due diligence on KANKAKEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE noncommercial WKCC/KANKAKEE, IL, reports ROBERTFEDER.COM. The school announced earlier this year that it will shut down WKCC on DECEMBER 18th and placed the signal up for sale; CHICAGO PUBLIC MEDIA would use the signal to expand the reach of News-Talk WBEZ/CHICAGO deeper into the southern part of the CHICAGO metro.
WIlmington, NC Deals Close, Sunny Moves From 104.5 To 103.7
SEA-COMM, INC. has closed on the sale of Adult Hits WBNE (BIG JOHN FM)/WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC and W240AS/WILMINGTON, NC to CAPITOL BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC.'s SUNRISE BROADCASTING, LLC for $1.85 million. The new owner is moving the format of AC WILT (SUNNY 104.5)/CAROLINA BEACH, NC TODAY (12/1) to WBNE's frequency as SUNNY 103.7, while WILT's new owner, BIBLE BROADCASTING NETWORK, INC., which bought WILT for $300,000, will operate the 104.5 frequency as a Religion station with new calls WYHW. GEORGE REED of MEDIA SERVICES GROUP represented SEA-COMM in the WBNE sale.
