WALR (Kiss 104.1)/Atlanta Subs Tom Joyner's Morning Show For The Holidays

COX MEDIA GROUP Urban AC WALR (KISS 104.1)/ATLANTA has decided to pre-empt TOM JOYNER's morning show for the holidays, substituting a new temporary show featuring midday host SASHA THE DIVA and afternoon hosts ART TERRELL and ROY WOOD JR, AJC's RODNEY HO reports. JOYNER is expected to return early next year.

This is the first time JOYNER's syndicated morning show has not been heard on KISS for two decades. Elsewhere, JOYNER is using a fill-in host over the next two weeks.

COX MEDIA GROUP/ATLANTA VP/Programming Radio TONY KIDD told HO that KISS were merely trying something “for the CHRISTMAS vacation season.” There has been reports -- since discounted -- that JOYNER was being forced to retire in early 2017 (NET NEWS 12/1). JOYNER, 66, is still heard on about 100 affiliates.
