GREATER MEDIA in NOVEMBER will debut Smooth Jazz on the 97.5 FM frequency in PHILADELPHIA, using the heritage WJJZ calls. The company agreed to acquire the signal last JULY (NET NEWS 7/31) when it swapped WCRB/BOSTON's format and calls, as well as the 99.5 FM frequency in BOSTON, for NASSAU BROADCASTING's Classic Hits WTHK/BURLINGTON, NJ, which is a move-in to PHILLY; the deal is set to close next month.
"We are very excited about bringing Smooth Jazz back to the PHILADELPHIA market," said GREATER MEDIA/PHILLY VP/Market Mgr. JOHN FULLAM. "We sensed a lot of disappointment among listeners and advertisers when WJJZ changed its format last AUGUST. It's gratifying to be able to relaunch a station with such a loyal following and that has been successful for so long in PHILADELPHIA."

The old WJJZ was owned by CLEAR CHANNEL at 106.1.
