WQYK/Tampa Morning Personality Dave McKay Has Died

ALL ACCESS is saddened to learn that BEASLEY Country WQYK/TAMPA morning personality DAVE MCKAY unexpectedly passed away this MORNING (8/4). He was 55. Cluster OM TEE GENTRY broke the news to listeners this morning while sitting in with MCKAY's morning co-host VERONICA and afternoon jock CADILLAC JACK, saying the announcement was "the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do on the radio. I’m beyond sad, beyond shocked.” The station is airing listener calls and tributes in MCKAY's memory; stream WQYK here and see the station's memorial page for MCKAY on its website here.
MCKAY began his radio career in 1980, with subsequent stops in NEW YORK, NORTH CAROLINA, MICHIGAN, and INDIANA. He arrived in WQYK in 1992, where he had remained until today’s passing.
BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP released this statement, "We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our WQYK Morning Host DAVE MCKAY. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fans. Our hearts are heavy within the BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP during this extremely difficult time. DAVE, we will miss you.” No information on services is available yet.
