Longtime RADIO ONE News-Talk WCHB-A/DETROIT host MILDRED GADDIS is facing a lawsuit from minister and former R&B singer LAURA LEE over a guest's comments wrongly linking her to the 1974 incident in which AL GREEN was burned with hot grits by his then-girlfriend, who subsequently shot herself dead with GREEN's gun.
The DETROIT FREE PRESS reports that the guest, writer GREG DUNMORE, said LEE was the woman who poured hot grits on the superstar singer and then shot herself in an incident that led to GREEN largely leaving the secular music world and becoming a minister and Gospel artist; MARY WOODSON, not LEE, was the woman who burned GREEN and killed herself. The suit named GADDIS, DUNMORE, and RADIO ONE as defendants and seeks over $25,000 in damages.
