Nielsen Scarborough Study Looks At Fantasy Sports Podcast Audience

NIELSEN SCARBOROUGH has released some demographic information about the fantasy sports fans who listen to podcasts.
The study shows that 62% of the fantasy sports podcast audience is Men 18-49, with an average annual household income of nearly $78,000, 8% higher than the average U.S. household. Over half of the listeners (55%) say they’ve flown domestic or foreign during the past year, but while this is close to the percentage for all podcast listeners, fantasy sports podcast listeners tend to fly more frequently, with 22% saying that they have taken four or more domestic round-trip flights in the past year. They are also 62% more likely than the average podcast listener to have taken 10 or more domestic plane trips in the past year and 148% more likely to have taken 10 or more personal/vacation trips and 26% more likely to have taken 10 or more business trips in the past year.
In addition, one in 10 live in households looking to buy new cars in the next year, and are 31% more likely than the average podcast listener to be planning to buy a car. Fantasy sports podcast listeners are beer drinkers -- three-fifths have had a beer in the past month -- and are 32% more likely than average (32%) to drink whiskey, mostly bourbon. And they favor fast food/quick service restaurants as well as sit-down establishments, and are 45% more likely to have visited a sports bar and 31% more likely to have visited a steak house during the past month.
