The next FCC open meeting, scheduled for SEPTEMBER 29th, will take up the issue of "streamlining" the foreign ownership restrictions for broadcasters, based on the rules and procedures for common carrier wireless licensees.
The item appears on the tentative agenda for the meeting, the most contentious topic at which is likely to be the controversial set-top box proposal of Chairman TOM WHEELER; also on the agenda is consideration of a proposed rulemaking on ensuring independent and diverse programming for consumers, and improvements to wireless emergency alerts.
