Former COX MEDIA GROUP Urban WEDR (99 JAMZ)/MIAMI weekend religion "HIGH IN THE SPIRIT" host APRILLE HINNANT has sued the station for sexual harassment and retaliation.
In the suit, entered into the U.S. District Court docket for the Southern District of FLORIDA on TUESDAY (9/6), HINNANT alleges that she was "forced to resign or (was) constructively discharged from her employment due to stress and concerns for her physical and mental health on APRIL 16, 2014, due to a hostile work environment," namely her co-host on the gospel show MAESTRO POWELL allegedly directing "unwanted sexual comments" at her, such as allegedly calling her his "radio wife" and telling her "I had a dream that you and I were getting married," accompanied by "unwanted touching." The suit also blames the situation at work for her separation from her husband.
Despite notifying the station's Human Resources department, the suit alleges, the problem continued, and after filing a complaint with the EEOC on DECEMBER 12, 2013, HINNANT says she was demoted to a "no-name position."
