ZAK STARKEY and frequent collaborator SSHH LIGUZ have teamed up as SSHH with a couple of ex-SEX PISTOLS for a cover of the band's "Problems," part of an album, "Issues," that features members of OASIS, BLONDIE, PRIMAL SCREAM and MARILYN MANSON doing versions of their songs.
STARKEY and LIGUZ hooked up with drummer PAUL COOK and bassist GLEN MATLOCK for the SEX PISTOLS "Problems," which can be streamed here.
The debut album from STARKEY and singer LIGUZ is an homage to "all of the epic bands that made SSHH what they are today." The idea behind the record was simple. ZAL and SSHH had been asked to do a radio series on SiIRIUSXM talking about and playing the music that has influenced them. That launched the idea of a full album, featuring the duo playing with the original rhythm sections from those bands.
The album features BLONDIE drummer CLEM BURKE on a cover of "One Way Or Another"; MARILYN MANSON's TWIGGY RAMIREZ and GIL SHARONE (THE BIG PINK's "Dominoes"); SANTA DAVIS and FULLY FULWOOD of PETER TOSH's WORD SOUND AND POWER with EDDIE VEDDER ("Get Up Stand Up"); PRIMAL SCREAM's DARREN MOONIE and SIMONE ("Shoot Speed Kill Light"); MOTT THE HOOPLE's MICK RALPHS ("All The Young Dudes"); THE PRETENDERS's MARTIN CHAMBERS ("Private Life") and SMALL FACES' KENNEY JONES ("Tin Soldier").
Other album highlights include “Babylon’s Burning” and “Jah War” with the rhythm section of THE RUTS and “Back to Black” with AMY WINEHOUSE’s drummer NATHAN ALLEN, and bassist/musical director DALE DAVIS .
"Issues" will be released later this month, and proceeds from album sales will go to TEENAGE CANCER TRUST.
