CHICAGO political pundit, author, professor, and TRIBUNE MEDIA News-Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO Political Analyst PAUL GREEN has passed away after suffering an aortic aneurysm. GREEN, 73, died SATURDAY (9/10).
GREEN, who most recently served as Chairman of the CITY CLUB OF CHICAGO and as Director of the INSTITUTE FOR POLITICS and Professor at ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY, was a familiar voice on politics on WGN and as an expert cited in major news outlets worldwide. He was a weekly presence on WGN during SPIKE O'DELL's years on the station with a regular appearance on WEDNESDAYs.
CHICAGO Mayor RAHM EMANUEL called GREEN a "CHICAGO political legend" and "a gifted writer, teacher, historian, and analyst" with "capacious intellect... boundless curiosity, and... quick wit." And O'DELL said on Facebook that his "heart is broken," noting that GREEN "lived for the political 'game.' He had a way of explaining it to our listeners in an informative, yet humorous way. He was my go to guy when it came to CHICAGO or ILLINOIS politics. He will be missed by so many. I’m glad our paths had a chance to cross. Rest in peace my friend.”
