Backed by some of the world's biggest musicians, artists and celebrities, the “WE ARE NOT AFRAID” campaign supports the global refugee crisis and victims of religious and political violence. The profits from the upcoming "WE ARE NOT AFRAID" song and video will benefit the INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITEE and HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH.
More than 175 world-renowned celebrities have joined forces around one powerful statement: "WE ARE NOT AFRAID to stand against the countless acts of violence, hate, discrimination and abuse witnessed globally."
Refugees in some of the world's wealthiest nations face some of the poorest andmost dire conditions as they seek asylum. It is with urgency that the "WE ARE NOT AFRAID" campaign affirms the need to help unite all global citizens as one to provide aid and respite. Participating artists acknowledge and herald the critical need to address and support those who most need
their voice.
NIGERIAN reggae artist MAJEK FASHEK has agreed to donate all royalties from his song "WE ARE NOT AFRAID" to this project.The upcoming video will be released on YOUTUBE on SEPTEMBERS 29th and feature images of over 175 highly significant artists including KEITH RICHARDS, ROBERT PLANT, RINGO STARR, PETER GABRIEL, IGGY POP, YOKO ONO, THURSTON MOORE, BRIAN WILSON, CHUCK D, NILE RODGERS, PUSSY RIOT, CONOR OBERST, BONNIE RAITT, GEORGE CLINTON, QUESTLOVE, ELVIS COSTELLO, SUSAN SARANDON, DEBBIE HARRY and MILTON GLASER, among many others.
The accompanying KEVIN GODLEY-directed video will feature images of participants holding signs that say "NOT AFRAID."
Said GODLEY: "Irrational hatred is a cancer of humanity's own design. To succumb would mean the failure of our species."
