The HOUSTON ROCKETS are making a few changes to their broadcast teams for the 2016-17 season on iHEARTMEDIA Sports KBME-A (SPORTSTALK 790)/HOUSTON and regional cable TV sports network ROOT SPORTS.
The most significant change is that longtime TV play-by-play voice BILL WORRELL will cover all home games alongside former ROCKETS players CLYDE DREXLER and MATT BULLARD but only select road games with BULLARD, with radio voice CRAIG ACKERMAN moving to the TV side for most road games. When ACKERMAN is on the TV side, SPORTSTALK 790's MATT THOMAS will call radio play-by-play; THOMAS will return as public address announcer for home games at TOYOTA CENTER. SPORTSTALK 790 "THE BOTTOM LINE" co-host ADAM CLANTON will serve as studio host on the radio coverage.
For Spanish-language play-by-play on LIBERMAN Regional Mexican KEYH-A-KNTE (LA RANCHERA 101.7)/HOUSTON, ADRIAN CHAVARRIA will be back to call the play-by-play.
"We are excited to usher in this new era of ROCKETS coverage with our partners ROOT SPORTS and SPORTSTALK 790," said ROCKETS Chief Executive Officer TAD BROWN. "BILL WORRELL is one of the most revered figures in Houston sports and a big part of the ROCKETS family. CRAIG ACKERMAN continues to grow in his role as a ROCKETS voice, now expanding into television play by play. And MATT THOMAS and ADAM CLANTON are incredibly talented broadcasters that will bring fresh voices to ROCKETS broadcasts. We’re extremely excited about the new lineup, and can’t wait to get the season started against the SHANGHAI SHARKS October 2nd."
