ROUND HILL MUSIC has signed NINE DAYS' JOHN HAMPSON to a worldwide administration deal, including his existing catalog of music, which has reverted back to him from WARNER/CHAPPEL MUSIC, and any future songs.
The singer/songwriter is a founding member of the band NINE DAYS, and the writer of their #1 2000 hit song, "Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)." The band’s major label debut for EPIC RECORDS, "The Madding Crowd," was certified gold that year, and spawned a follow-up, HAMPSON-penned hit single in "If I Am", which reached #18 on the alternative charts.
ROUND HILL MUSIC COO MICHAEL LAU stated: “We are excited about JOHN joining the ROUND HILL family. His past and present catalog, especially, “Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)” continues to have great synch relevance.”
After independently releasing several solo albums in the late 2000s, HAMPSON reformed NINE DAYS, releasing their 10th album, "Snapshots" on the indie DIGITALLY SOUND RECORDS label in JULY. HAMPSON spent time in NASHVILLE working with some acclaimed writers, including ZAC MALOY ("Snapshots"); PHIL BARTON and his partner in the band, BRIAN DESVEAUX ("Greenlight") ; BRUCE WALLACE ("Conspiracy") and JOE WEST and DESVEUAX ("My So Called Perfect Life"). The band will be performing songs from their new record on "The Today Show."
Added HAMPSON: “I'm excited to be a part of the ROUND HILL MUSIC publishing family. I am very 'hands-on' with my music, in every facet, and the personal relationships I have forged with some very creative people at ROUND HILL are the reasons I'm excited. They are out there proving themselves, and nobody is coasting. I've been working my butt off for over 20 years in this business, and it never gets easy, so you need to find good, creative, hungry people and partner up. That's why I'm here.”
