PEARL RECORDS artist GARTH BROOKS has made history, becoming the lone act atop the list of RIAA DIAMOND certified artist. BROOKS' "Ultimate Hits" album has been certified DIAMOND for sales in excess of 10 million (10X multi-Platinum), giving BROOKS his seventh RIAA Diamond certification. BROOKS' wife and tour mate, TRISHA YEARWOOD, made the announcement SATURDAY night (9/24) during their "GARTH BROOKS WORLD TOUR WITH TRISHA YEARWOOD" stop in FRESNO, CA. Check out the video of that moment here. The couple celebrated the historic milestone with band mates, crew, and friends after the show with champagne showers for everyone. See that here.
This seventh RIAA DIAMOND certification moves BROOKS ahead of THE BEATLES, with whom he was previously tied at six RIAA DIAMOND awards. His six previous DIAMOND certifications were awarded to "Double Live" (21X multi-Platinum), "No Fences" (17X multi-Platinum), "Ropin' The Wind" (14X multi-Platinum), "GARTH BROOKS" (10X multi-Platinum), "Sevens" (10X multi-Platinum), and "The Hits" (10X multi-Platinum). Additionally, BROOKS is on the cups of added Diamond certifications, as "The Chase" currently sits at 9X multi-Platinum followed closely by "In Pieces" at 8X MULTI-PLATINUM and "Fresh Horses" at 7X multi-Platinum. BROOKS still trails THE BEATLES in total RIAA certified units with 138 million to THE BEATLES' 178 million.
