MCKENZIE RIVER BROADCASTING AC KMGE (94.5 MIX FM)/EUGENE, OR morning duo LIZ and REILLY want to help eight-year-old TYLER CARACH, aka ‘DONUT BOY,’ bring one donut to every police office in the nation. The morning show are reaching out to TYLER and his mother, SHEENA (a former police officer in VIRGINIA) to bring their campaign, now called “I DONUT need a reason to THANK a cop," to the WILLAMETTE VALLEY and deliver donuts to the men and women of EUGENE and SPRINGFIELD POLICE, as well as the LANE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
TYLER started a letter writing campaign to find a way to deliver donuts to the 400 police officers in his area, which garnered the boy 420 donuts to deliver on SEPT. 2nd, via a national donut chain. Now TYLER brings his efforts to EUGENE, SPRINGFIELD and LANE COUNTY law enforcement officers on SEPT. 30th.
“TYLER’s desire to help the police comes from an innocent spot in his un-jaded heart," 94.5 MIX FM morning co-host LIZ KELLY said. "As adults we have a responsibility to use our power to give legs to these ideas, to foster the giving spirit in our children. The take-away is much more than simply supporting our police officers but it’s a reset for all of us to remember that something as simple as a yummy donut can bring us together.”
“I feel privileged to be a part of making this dream become reality," morning co-host MARY REILLY added. "TYLER's capacity for goodwill and his generous spirit are contagious. Seeing the community come together to bring him all the way across the country to deliver donuts in person is an amazing experience. Plus, c'mon ... donuts!”
TYLER, with the help of LIZ and REILLY, will be delivering the donuts from BIZZY JEANS to the officers of EUGENE at 11a and SPRINGFIELD at 3:15p on FRIDAY. “BIZZY JEAN'S DONUTS, in SPRINGFIELD, is excited to donate donuts and participate in this special event sponsored by [94.5 MIX FM] in connection with the national story about TYLER CARACH ... BIZZY JEANS DONUTS believes in supporting our community, our Police Departments and especially our children," BIZZY JEANS DONUTS LINDA CHRISTENSEN said.
“LIZ and REILLY and the rest of us at MCKENZIE RIVER BROADCASTING are very pleased to have the opportunity to welcome TYLER [“DONUT BOY”] to our community," MCKENZIE RIVER BROADCASTING Pres. JOHN TILSON said. "We are also encouraged that we are able to help him realize his dream of giving back to the police men and women who serve selflessly day after day, in always difficult and often dangerous work of law enforcement and public protection.”
