Howard University School Of Communications To Be Named After Radio One's Cathy Hughes

HOWARD UNIVERSITY's School of Communications will be named in honor of RADIO ONE, INC. founder and Chairperson CATHY HUGHES pursuant to a multi-million dollar gift to the school from HUGHES' son, RADIO ONE President and CEO ALFRED C. LIGGINS III. The school will be officially renamed the CATHY HUGHES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS in an official ceremony on OCTOBER 23rd.
University President Dr. WAYNE A. I. FREDERICK said, “The HOWARD community is thrilled that Mr. LIGGINS has chosen to honor his mother, Ms. CATHY HUGHES, in this manner for her pioneering work in the field of communications. The gift will have a transformational impact on the School’s commitment to serve the communications industry and as a high-level producer of diverse media specialists.”
