STASHIMI, INC., a new L.A.-based music, news and entertainment group whose investors include ex-SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT digital guru THOMAS HESSE, will be releasing its flagship mobile app in conjunction with a signature event series dedicated to supporting emerging artists.
STASHIMI will host producer workshops, EP releases, intimate shows, and a touring university lecture series with former NPR hip-hop podcast "Microphone Check," created by A TRIBE CALLED QUEST's ALI SHAHEED MUHAMMAD and journalist FRANNIE KELLEY.
Commented KELLEY and MUHAMMAD: "Artists drive culture, and STASHIMI honors and reinforces that by respecting journalism, even thinking it’s necessary, but its allegiance is to the musician. And we second that emotion.”
The STASHIMI app sends out customized bots to aggregate content and breaking news for over 50,000 artists into a real-time feed. Users can personalize their feed to display news, music, and video, while blocking out artists who just don’t fit their taste.
The app also offers access to 8 million music videos and two million pieces of audio content, with personalized content recommendations from more than 100,000 data sources such as breaking news and trending artists.
STASIHIMI is also starting local, collaborating with L.A.-based musicians, bands and collectives to produce interactive events including "Forward Thinkers" with MR. CARMACK, "GARDEN Party" with SOSUPERSAM and the underground jazz "Secret Show" with TERRACE MARTIN.
Commented STASHIMI CMO KOSTA ELCHEV: “STASHIMI helps artists with the distribution of their brilliant content and connects fans directly to it.. The first step is to support the local music scene – we’d be remiss in launching a musical entity without garnering the support of the community. The artists we’re working with are changing what it means to be an independent artist in 2016, and we want to push music culture forward alongside them.”
STASHIMI is partnering with PRMRY to produce and capture music moments, creating a short film documentary on what JAPAN looks like through the eyes of L.A. punk band TRASH TALK, to be screened in LOS ANGELES in NOVEMBER.
In addition to HESSE, STASHIMI's founders include CEO JURGEN KURZ (former CEO of consumer software powerhouse NERO and SVP Product Development at publishing icon QUARK), Head of R&D ANDRE RABOLD (former Head of R&D at NERO). In MAY, former CASHMERE AGENCY and RED BULL N.A. exec KONSTANTIN ELCHEV was named Head Of Marketing. STASHIMI has received $3.6M in funding to date, led by ATLANTIC BRIDGE.
