Riot charges against PACIFICA RADIO "DEMOCRACY NOW!" host AMY GOODMAN were dismissed MONDAY by NORTH DAKOTA Judge JOHN GRINSTEINER, who did not sign the charging document offered by prosecutors.
The charge, which replaced a trespassing charge previously entered against GOODMAN, arose from her coverage of the STANDING ROCK SIOUX tribe's DAKOTA ACCESS pipeline protests near MANDAN, ND; prosecutor LADD ERICKSON has indicated that the state may file new charges if unedited videos show cause.
GOODMAN was charged with criminal trespass on SEPTEMBER 8th arising from her video coverage of a battle between protestors and security at the MANDAN pipeline site; she contends that she was neither trespassing nor rioting but was arrested for merely reporting on the protests, while ERICKSON has contended that because GOODMAN's reporting favored the protestors' view, she was there as a protestor.
