MADONNA, JAY Z, JEFF LYNNE, CAT STEVENS, VINCE GILL and SLY STONE are among the performers nominated for this year's SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME to be elected for induction at its ANNUAL INDUCTION & AWARDS GALA, slated for JUNE 15th, 2017, in NEW YORK CITY.
Eligible voting members will have until DECEMBER 16th to turn in ballots with their choices of three nominees from a non-performing and two from a performing category. For information with which to join or renew as a voting member before NOVEMBER 15th in order to participate in this election, please go to songhall.org/join.
KENNETH "BABYFACE" EDMONDS tops the list of Non-Performing Songwriters, which also includes country songwriter RANDY GOODRUM, JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWIS, PYE RECORDS tunesmith TONY MACAULAY ("Love Goes [Where My Rosemary Goes]," "Build Me Up Buttercup"), MAX MARTIN, KENNY NOLAN, DAN PENN & SPOONER OLDHAM, PAUL OVERSTREET, PF SLOAN & STEVE BARRI, WILLIAM "MICKEY" STEVENSON, AILEE WILLIS, BROADWAY COMPOSER MAURY YESTON.
MADONNA, JAY Z, JEFF LYNNE, VINCE GILL CAT STEVENS and SYLVESTER "SLY STONE" STEWART top the list of Performing Songwriters nominated for induction along with BRYAN ADAMS, CHICAGO's PETER CETERA, ROBERT LAMM and JAMES PANKOW, GLORIA ESTEFAN, BREAD's DAVID GATES, KOOL & THE GANG's ROBERT "KOOL" BELL, RONALD BELL and GEORGE BROWN and GEORGE MICHAEL.
