NAB PILOT Program Announces Winners Of 'Innovation Challenge'

The NAB's PILOT technology innovation program has announced the 3 winners of its PILOT Innovation Challenge. The announcement came YESTERDAY (10/31) at NAB FUTURES in PEBBLE BEACH, CA. The three winners were picked from 10 finalists among over 150 idea submissions responding to the question, “How might local television and radio broadcasters engage their communities with next generation content on any device, whether big, small or moving?”
First place: REDFLIGHT MOBILE INSPIRATION's ROBINNE BURRELL and TRINA DASGUPTA for storytelling platform IN YOUR SHOES, winning $20,000 to help with prototyping the project.
Second place: ERIC ASENCIO, ELISE HACKNEY, MIKE LE, ALBERTA LIN, CLAIRE LOHN, JORDAN SALES of TEXAS A&M for augmented reality app HISTORY GO, winning $15,000
Third place: CHANDRA CLARK of the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA for customized news-by-phone service THE NEWS CALL, winning $10,000.
The three winners will also receive expert guidance, access to key broadcast executives, and exclusive exposure at the NAB Shows.
