Music scholar ADAM READER's "The Professor Of Rock" -- a new show featuring a visual history of pop music and stories behind hundreds of the classic songs and albums from '50s to present-day as told by the artists and musicians who made them happen, has premiered exclusively on WALMART's new streaming service VUDU.
Featuring in-depth artist interviews, with stories behind the biggest songs, READER provides insights into the stories behind the music, with every episode presented in a mini-documentary style, in both long and short form content.
Among the artists covered are BRIAN WILSON, CARLOS SANTANA, CROSBY, STILLS & NASH, JOURNEY, HEART, THE BYRDS, THE ANIMALS, JANE'S ADDICTION, VAN HALEN, SMASHING PUMPKINS, TOTO, PANIC! AT THE DISCO and TRAIN, among others. It also includes commentary from the songwriters and players vital to the achievements of THE BEATLES, ELVIS PRESLEY, MICHAEL JACKSON, PRINCE, JANET JACKSON and MADONNA, as it seeks to "break down the barrier between artist and fan."
“A song is literally a time machine that can take us back to the memories we yearn to experience again and again," READER said. "Songs represent who we are and where we’ve been. This isn’t just programming, nor is it just entertainment – it’s musical anthropology! Each piece of content is part TED TALK and personal genealogy, mixed with history, spirituality, pop culture and humanity.”
PETER KATSIS, partner at DECKSTAR ARTIST MANAGEMENT, whose clients include JANE'S ADDICTION, SMASHING PUMPKINS AND CULTURE CLUB added: “I know that all my artists are tired of the ‘click-bait’ type of content we are all asked to be part of these days. It feels like a breath of fresh air to be involved with folks that really care about music, and stand truly committed to telling the real stories. That’s what the PROFESSOR OF ROCK programming is all about.”
