UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS News-Talk WWNO/NEW ORLEANS will rebroadcast the Classical format of WWNO-HD2 on its recently-acquired K285FF/METARIE, LA as "CLASSICAL 104.9." The translator is being purchased from CROCODILE BROADCASTING CORPORATION, INC. for $200,000.
The station says that the new simulcast, to launch in JANUARY "if all goes well," will air WWNO-HD2’s current schedule; the translator will reach about 70% of the primary station's service area, mostly in the immediate NEW ORLEANS and EASTBANK and WESTBANK suburbs. NORTH SHORE suburbs will be served by the HD2 channel, although the station adds that "If 104.9 is successful, we have plans for further investment in new transmitters to extend our classical music service throughout our entire service area, including LAFOURCHE and TERREBONNE PARISHES."
