ALL ACCESS extends sympathies to family and friends of singer-songwriter MARK GRAY, who passed away FRIDAY (12/2). He was 64. A successful songwriter in the early 80s, GRAY wrote or co-wrote #1 hits for JANIE FRICKIE (“It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Easy”), ALABAMA (“Take Me Down,” “The Closer You Get”), and GARY MORRIS (“Second Hand Heart”), among others.
That string of hits led to a solo career with COLUMBIA NASHVILLE, where he released three albums, which yielded several top 10 singles, including a 1985 cover of DAN HILL’s “Sometimes When We Touch,” which GRAY recorded as a duet with TAMMY WYNETTE. Even while pursuing a solo career, GRAY continued to write for many other artists, including those outside of Country music. Services were held TODAY (12/5) in LEBANON, TN, with burial set for LEARNED, MS.
