Condolences to family and friends of former BBC and NPR foreign correspondent ALAN TOMLINSON, who died on NOVEMBER 26th in MIAMI from complications related to what his most recent employer, PBS affiliate WLRN-TV/MIAMI, termed a "minor medical procedure." He was 69.
TOMLINSON, who started his career in print journalism and worked in FRANCE and SPAIN before returning to his native ENGLAND to work at REUTERS, ITN, and the BBC WORLD SERVICE, was a reporter from CENTRAL AMERICA and the CARIBBEAN for the BBC, THE TIMES OF LONDON, and NPR in the '80s and '90s, and later worked in television for THE NEW YORK TIMES, DISCOVERY CHANNEL/TLC, PBS, and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL before settling at PBS affiliate WLRN-TV/MIAMI as Dir./Television Programming and Production and, at their own TOMLINSON-DE ONIS PRODUCTIONS, as a producer of documentaries with his wife FRANCESCA DE ONIS.
