NPR Newsroom Reassignments Follow Election's End

NPR has made some reassignments on its reporting teams now that the election is over and has added another voice for funding credits, reports CURRENT.ORG.

In the newsroom, Editor ARNIE SEIPEL moves from covering the candidates to coordinating Congressional coverage; Reporter SCOTT DETROW, who covered the Republican campaign,  is now reporting from CAPITOL HILL; Former National Editor MUTHONI MUTURI is now Features Editor for Politics; WASHINGTON Senior Editor/Correspondent RON ELVING goes part-time; "Power, Money, and Influence" Correspondent PETER OVERBY is back from leave; and ASMA KHALID has exited after covering the campaign to return to BOSTON UNIVERSITY News-Talk WBUR/BOSTON as a business and technology reporter.

In addition, NPR POLITICS podcast host SAM SANDERS will exit the show at the end of JANUARY to start a new podcast for NPR; National Desk reporter SARAH MCCAMMON will move to VIRGINIA BEACH as Mid-Atlantic reporter; Family life/social Correspondent JENNIFER LUDDEN will oversee environmental and energy reporting; and website homepage and engagement editor DANA FARRINGTON moves to digital and social editor.

And Producer and VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY professor CHIOKE L'ANSON has been added as underwriting credit announcer for newscasts and digital content, with JESSICA HANSEN continuing as credits announcer for all other NPR broadcast content.
