NEW YORK PUBLIC MEDIA Classical WQXR/NEW YORK's battle with a pirate FM operator in BROOKLYN has drawn the attention of the NEW YORK POST.
The pirate, operating at 105.7 FM, causes interference to WQXR's signal in the KENSINGTON, WINDSOR TERRACE, and PARK SLOPE neighborhoods of BROOKLYN nightly from about 6p to 8a (ET); thus far, the unlicensed station operator has not been identified. The five boroughs and nearby NEW JERSEY cities have been plagued with several pirate operations, and the FCC has fined some of them while others have operated on several frequencies for years.
